Description
As the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Domininkas Bukontas—a participant in the national movement not only in the Zarasai region but throughout Lithuania and a promoter of Lithuanian identity—approaches, the community “Miško broliai,” which maintains and manages the residential house at 10 D. Bukonto St. in Zarasai on a trust basis, has decided to set up an exhibition in the house where Dr. D. Bukontas lived at the time (and later Dr. Juozas Buzelis, a member of the Constituent Assembly of the Republic of Lithuania) to set up an exhibition dedicated to the memory of our region’s luminaries. Also, to mark the centennial of the establishment of the Zarasai Forest District (1920) and the fifth anniversary of its dissolution (2018), the exhibitions are dedicated to preserving the traditions of forestry throughout Lithuania and in the Zarasai region. An exhibition dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Lithuanian Reform Movement (Sąjūdis) and current events in the political life of the Zarasai region has been set up nearby.
