Description
This is one of the largest lakes in Lithuania (the sixth largest) and one of the richest in fish. Lake Luodis lies in a basin of glacial origin, and the Šventoji River flows through it, entering the lake in the north-east and leaving it just a few hundred metres away. Large pike and bream are caught in Lake Luodis. Anglers usually catch bream near the islands. Pike bite well at depth drops and near the inflow of the Šventoji. Large roach and rudd are also caught, with the biggest catches taken around beds of aquatic plants further from the shore. Luodis is also famous for its unique spits – the Žvėrinčius and Juodasis Ragas headlands, jutting from the south towards the centre of the lake, which grow a few centimetres longer every year due to wind and underwater currents. The Žvėrinčius peninsula can be reached by car, bike or on foot, and a forest path leads to Žvėrinčius Point. On the western shore of Lake Luodis there are Gražutė Regional Park campsites, car parks, 2 outdoor toilets and a beach with changing cabins. From the campsite, the Salakas nature trail runs along the western shore towards the town of Salakas; walking it, you can admire the lake panorama and easily watch water and forest birds. You can start the Salakas nature trail from the Salakas campsite or the Gražutė Regional Park Visitor Centre. We wish you pleasant impressions and a good mood! Photo by Marius Semaška
